The Angel's Game is book II of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series by Carlos Zafon. Book I: Shadow of the Wind is one of my favorite books ever and this second book did not disappoint. Zafon writes his books as if he writing music. The story flows with a rhythm, at times speeding up and the slowing down to describe things with immaculate detail.

The one interesting thing about the second book is that you get to discover the characters from the first book from a different perspective. While the first story is written from the perspective of a bookseller's son Daniel, this story is told from the perspective of David, a writer who frequents the bookstore.

The one lesson that stood out is about the power of distribution. While David is an extremely talented writer, his publishers are lousy. When he writes a book under his own name and the name of a famous person, the second book becomes a success because of the distribution power of the famous person. His own book, on the other hand, doesn't get enough copies published to hit the bookstores.

The book is captivating and intriguing. Even at 546 pages, the author keeps the readers engaged throughout it all. Now that I finished this book, i'm onto book III in the series - the Prison of Heaven.
