I just finished The Prisoner of Heaven which is book III in the series The Cemetery of Forgotten Books by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Just like the previous two books, this one is a gem.

With each book, the reader discovers the main characters from a different angle and grows a stronger bond with them. In this book, we learn more about the character from the first book, Fermin, and his relationship with the main character of the second book, David Martin. The story and their connection gives us answers to the circumstances that led to the death of the main character’s mother - Isabella.

The amazing thing about this series is that each book can be consumed on its own and represents an entry point into the world of the Cemetery of Forgotten books. As a readers, you can start the journey from any book and get a full understanding of the story. Depending on where you enter, you will get to see the characters in different light and perspective. With each book you learn more about the characters and the city of Barcelona from early 1900s through 1950s.

With three books behind me, it's time to get started on the last book of the series - the Labyrinth of the Spirits which is the largest volume at 833 pages. I'm going to take my time with this one and enjoy it thoroughly.
